The University of Chicago: John Crerar Library

Bulley & Andrews served as construction manager for The University of Chicago’s John Crerar Library renovation project. The 115,000 sq. ft. interior renovation re-purposed the existing library to become a vibrant and collaborative environment for new university programs and is now a focal point for the Sciences Quad.

The renovation included a computer-based instructional lab, dry labs for computer science research, closed and open office spaces, meeting areas and student spaces. The building’s facade was also opened with additional windows to create a more transparent and inviting building exterior and to provide natural light within the second and third floor areas. The project transformed the building into an exciting campus hub for collaboration, instruction, research and support, especially around computing and data science.
