The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater

Changing the face of Navy Pier, The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) has repurposed the former Skyline Stage, expanding CTS’s footprint and production capabilities. Bulley & Andrews served as construction manager for the 35,000 sq. ft. project.

An innovative new theater, the Yard was built under the existing white canopy of the Skyline Stage. Audience members will be seated on one of nine towers that can be moved to create a variety of theatrical events and configurations, allowing the space to seat up to 850 patrons or offer a more intimate experience. New lobby areas attach the Yard to the existing CST building to the east.

A global theatrical force, CST is known for vibrant productions that reflect Shakespeare’s genius for storytelling, language and empathy for the human condition. The new Yard enhances the CST’s ability to deliver new and imaginative productions to its audiences.
